Pre-Pointe Training

Students in Ballet 4 and who are at least 11 years old may be ready for pre-pointe training. As dancers get ready to go on pointe, they need to focus on developing strength and technique, and also need adequate core strength and proper alignment to be able to go on pointe successfully and safely. Only students who have shown discipline, technique, and maturity will be given the opportunity to take an examination to be considered to take the pointe evaluation. We take this very seriously for their safety. The evaluation will consist of an observed technique class and a written terminology exam by trained professionals. Over the year, pointe work will be integrated into their regular ballet classes and will increase in complexity and difficulty as students progress. If a student does not meet the requirements of attending two ballet classes a week and pointe class or doesn’t show the maturity for pointe work, they will not be allowed to continue pointe class for their safety.

If your student meets the above requirements and is interested in an evaluation to begin pointe work, please contact the office.
